What is anxiety?
- Anxiety disorders are defined by very high levels of fear and nerve that could lead to avoidance in response to certain objects or situations. This could effect someones day to day life such as goung to the shop. Panic attacks are common symptoms of anxiety but they could alos appear in other mental disorders too.
Symptoms of anxiety
- Anxiety has many different symproms and signs. You can have a physical response such as high heart beet when in social situations or stressful , vomiting and nausea, a know in your stomach, and Muscle tension. Other symptoms that you might be experiencing could include Restlessness, Fatigue, Difficulty focusing, Irritability and mood changes.
- Anxiety is usually a natural response to pressure, feeling afraid or threatened, which can show up in how we feel physically, mentally, and in how we behave. It's common to describe anxiety as a feeling of dread, fear or unease, which can range from mild to severe.
Tips for anxiety
Practicing relaxation, mindfulness or breathing exercises regularly helps reduce tension and focus awareness on the present moment. Keeping a diary of activities and feelings can help identify what's affecting you. Setting specific "worry time" each day focuses on other things instead of overwhelming worries all day long.
shifting your focus, which could mean trying some mindfulness or meditation. understanding what could be causing the anxiety, keeping a diary could be useful for this. facing your fears gradually, trying to avoid situations or relying on habits you might think will keep you safe, could actually make things worse in the long-term. try self-help CBT techniques. think about the bigger picture, if worried about a certain situation, thing about how it would affect you in the long-term and if the problem isnt there in the long-term or you cant do anything about it , they why worry.
Causes of anxiety
- Anxiety is caused by many different situations and life experiences.
- How anxiety affects us is very personal to us, and if you asked 100 people what it means to them, you'd probably get 100 different answers.Sometimes there are no obvious triggers for it and it's difficult to know what causes anxiety, which can be upsetting or stressful in itself.
- Everyone's anxiety levels are different. Some people find more situations stressful and experience more challenges in life than others, and they get more anxious as a result.
